I recently discovered a blog through the link list for the A-Z Challenge – writercize. Alana, the blog writer, describes writercizing as “taking the time several times a week to practice the craft of writing through simple exercises.” On Tuesday (March 15th) she posted the following exercise:
Go to Google News (or your favorite local news source). “Search” the name of your local city or state. Find an article that appeals to you, click on it, read and summarize in 50-100 words. (writercize)
I know I’m a few days late, but I wanted to take a stab at this one so here it is –
York, PA – On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:21 pm, a York man was hit in the head with a frying pan. After further investigation by York Police, it was determined that the attack occurred during a fight with his ex-girlfriend.
The unidentified woman took a small frying pan and smacked the man in the head. As the man’s head was thick as a brick, the small frying pan broke. Not to be deterred, the woman proceeded to pull out a larger frying pan and hit him a second time.
The man sustained minor injuries, but did not seek medical attention from York Hospital.
Police continue to investigate whether old Tom & Jerry cartoons are to blame for the assailant’s actions.
If you decide to do this exercise, will you leave me a link in a comment? I’d love to read more of these.
